Spiky Federation Forum Boards Empty
PostSubject: Spiky Federation Forum Boards   Spiky Federation Forum Boards EmptyTue Aug 05, 2008 5:44 pm

Welcome to the Spiky Federation's own forum board. This is a board reserved only for the spikys, where anything about the spikys in partucular may be discussed and posted. There is a sector on this board for the Armed Forces, Military, Space, Airforce, and Navy, which is for the Play By Forum rules, which I will list below.

Play by Forum is the set of rules for our spiky game here in the board. Basically, when you join, you'll be able to select a regiment, starship, ship, fighter plane, bomber, etc. which you will serve in. You can find out more on their specific pages, but I will give some basic rules.

1. You are to follow the orders of your commanding officer.

2. You will be assigned on a mission, which you will have to write a response to when it is your turn.

3. Your job would be do weigh your options carefully and write a short response (Eleven paragraph maximum, Three minimum) including description of event, dialogue, etc. in a story format (like a novel).

4. You will be emailed regarding the order of posting. You will be expected to follow the order of posting, in good time.

5. In your response, make your report to your chosen option, such as, "I suggest this specific strategy, by surrounding the enemy fleet in the order of...". Include a description of what happens after; you may include dialogue spoken by other people. Write it in a story format.

6. Once your response is posted, the order of posting will follow, and the story will continue forwards, until a moderator signals an end of the story is necessary.

7. A moderator will constantly monitor the storyline, and occasionally will post a reply interlude in italic text/font, indicating an important event, which will affect the storyline significantly (shown in example).

An example of these rules, "Play by forum" and "add as you go" will be displayed in the replies following this post. I will play as the captain of the ISS Spiker, Cpt. Spiketer.

(Note: Captain Spiketer is the captain of the ISS Spiker, however, the characters Sether, Lawspike, Spikwer, and Sike are fictional, used only in the examples)

The starship ISS Spiker hurtled across space at maximum warp speed, heading for the Spiky colony on Thevalon Beta Prime II. On the bridge, Captain Spiketer watched the image of the planet slowly get bigger as the ship approached. Having received a distress call for medical assistance on the planet, the ISS Spiker was the only ship in range.

From the operations post, Lieutenant Sether reported, "I'm picking up a large fleet of ten ships in standard orbit of the planet." Tabbing at his control panel, he noticed that the ships had altered to an intercept course. Looking up, he shouted, "They're powering weapons and moving on an intercept course!"

The executive officer, Commander Lawspike commanded, "On screen. Tactical, identify the ships." The tactical officer, Ensign Sike promptly reported that they were of unknown origin. Suddenly, the ship rocked as sparks rippled across the bridge. Lawspike gripped the armrests of his chair with determination and ordered, "Give them a few warning shots off their bow with the forward turbolaser banks."

The tactical officer nodded, and moved into position to comply. Spiketer looked up at Sether, and yelled, "Lieutenant, hail them!"

"Aye captain," replied Lieutenant Sether, at first, pushing the buttons on his console, without, much gain, then turned to banging the console with his fists. Sparks exploded from an overhead panel, showering the lieutenant. A sound from his computer indicated a channel was open. Sether waved his arms to get the captain's attention. "Channel open, captain!" he yelled.

"This is Captain Spiketer of the ISS Spiker, calling the fleet of ships in orbit of Thevalon Beta Prime II. You have committed an act of agression against the Spiky Federation. If you do not withdraw immediately-" The captain was cut off as the unknown species on the other end cut the transmission.

Commander Lawspike glanced at Spiketer, who shook his fist at the viewer, to no avail. The ship's deck floor rocked beneath their bodies. "Shields have failed, Captain!" reported his Executive Officer.

-The ISS Spiker jolts violently as steam billows, sparks fly, and flames erupt from damaged control consoles.

On screen, two ships explode suddenly, not before Ensign Sike and Commander Lawspike go flying from their chairs, landing in a fiery inferno.

An automated computerized voice promptly announces, "Warning. Hull integrity failure imminent on Bridge, Deck 1." A column of steam then sprays the captain in the face.-

The captain had had enough. With only two other crewmembers left alive on the bridge, and about only fifteen out of a previous 100 crew in total, he shouted urgently, "Computer, open paging circuits." The computer responded with gurgled reply which sounded like "P-g-i-g C-rc-i-s P-n", which the Spiketer assumed meant 'Paging Circuits Open'.

The captain continued. "All hands, this is Captain Spiketer. Abandon ship, I repeat, abandon ship! The situation is intolerable. I repeat, abandon ship!"

A shuffling of bodies ensued as the remaining officers of the bridge moved hurriedly towards the aft turbolifts. In a minute, the captain was the last member on the bridge. As they always said, the captain never abandoned his position. He queried the computer, "Computer, how many crewmember are currently onboard?"

The annoyingly pleasant voice of the bridge computer then announced, "No crewmembers presently onboard expect Captain Spiketer and Chief Engineer Spikwer." Before the captain could press another question towards the computer, it was already talking to him. "Warning! Hull integrity at 8.5% and failing. Warp core collapse in three minutes."

Spiketer didn't waste any time. He bolted for the turbolift, except the doors did not bother to open at his approach. Growling, he headed for an access tube, linking him with one of the habitat decks, containing living quarters, as well as escape pods. Spiketer dashed for the last escape pod. As he stepped in, he banged on the launch controls, which launched his pod spacebound, taking one last longing look at his rapidly deteriorating ship. But as he glanced through the viewport, he saw a frantically waving figure still at the escape launch bay. It was his Chief Engineer!

There was nothing Spiketer could do, except watch as the ISS Spiker exploded in a tremendous ball of flame, pulling Spikwer along with it. Grimacing and planning rapidly, he steered for the nearest Spiky Starfleet outpost.

(Note: The ISS Spiker is in fact still active and has not been destroyed, and actually no such event ever occurred. This is a purely fictional event)
